Our Philosophy

At Kidz in Harmony we believe that music is for everyone. Together, parents/carers and children will learn, explore and grow through singing, movement and playing instruments within a fun, safe and nurturing environment. Our music program takes a holistic and child-centered approach.

Children are born with an uninhibited appreciation for music. Music is highly motivating, engaging and fun and helps children to organise their thoughts, bodies and minds. Music is a universal language and brings people together.

Your child’s physical, emotional, cognitive, language and social skills will be developed through experiencing different musical activities.

We believe that sharing music together provides the perfect platform in which to strengthen and foster the bond between you and your child.

Our Sessions

We run small group music sessions for parents/carers and their children 0-4 years (siblings are welcome) in a specially designed music room at 15 Glendon Rd, Double Bay.

Our sessions are fun and interactive, offering great opportunities for you and your child to bond through music. Sessions are designed by a music therapist who plays all the music live.

Sessions include action songs, playing with instruments and props, movement, musical story time and lots more!

Sessions are designed to enhance your child’s listening, language, fine/gross motor skills and social development.

Our Facilitator

Lisa Adamik

Lisa Adamik (Director)

Music has always been a big part of Lisa’s life. She started learning the piano and violin at the age of 3, playing the violin in the Sydney Youth Orchestra all throughout her school and receiving her A.Mus.A in piano at the tender age of 13.

At the age of 14, Lisa started to teach herself guitar which began her love of playing and singing. Having previously been a classical musician, Lisa began enjoying expanding her horizons and playing a variety of genres.

She discovered the power of African rhythms and began learning the djembe, completing a drum circle facilitator training course in 2010. Lisa then travelled to Ghana in 2014 to further her studies on the djembe.

Lisa began teaching Suzuki piano at the age of 18 and found her passion for working with young children. She began her Bachelor of Arts majoring in music and education and went on to complete her Masters in Music Therapy.

Since becoming a Registered Music Therapist, Lisa has worked in the fields of aged care, in early intervention with vulnerable families and their young children, and in private practice with children with autism.

Currently, as well as being the director of Kidz in Harmony, Lisa also teaches piano at SCEGGS and is a mum to a gorgeous little girl and boy.

Since becoming a mum herself, Lisa has experienced first-hand what a wonderful role music can play in child development and has become even more passionate about seeing families share music and grow together.

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is the planned use of music to enhance a person’s emotional, physical, social and cognitive wellbeing. Music is a unique tool that allows for therapy to take place in a safe and non threatening way. Whilst music can be structured and predictable it can also provide a safe framework in which to explore flexibility and change
